Elephants are reminiscent of festival memories for each Malayalee living within the state and beyond all boundaries and they always bring back the old world charm of the irreplaceable memories of all our childhoods. The basic thread evolved from Kottarathil Shankunni’s Aithihyamala( a garland of historical anecdotes), written in eight volumes, each ending with an awe inspiring story of an elephant, which forms a major part of my growing up years. Hence, this collection was conceived as an ode to the timeless love for those incredible beings and also because of the unflinching love for handloom.
